Hello, Friends. It really is me. I’m here to update and refresh Eggs and Peas . . . finallllly. If you’re reading this, I’m in awe of you. Thank you for returning, or clicking the link in my Insta bio, or finding my blog! Mahalo nui for being here.

In June of 2020, I graduated and received my third master’s degree, a Master of Science in Nutrition from National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) here on the land of the Cowlitz, Multnomah, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Tumwater, Tualatin Kalapuya, Wasco, Molalla, Chinook, and other indigenous peoples also known as Portland, Oregon. Through my studies in this program, I have changed in ways I could not have anticipated. For the first time in my life, I began to examine mainstream cultural beliefs about wellness, health, nutrition, individual health, communal health, public health, and environmental health. I asked lots of questions and curiously explored the intersections of food justice, health justice, environmental justice, and social justice. This work invited me to continue the process of decolonization and commit to a lifetime of unlearning.

I had the honor of being chosen by a majority of classmates in my cohort to be the 2020 Graduate Studies Equity and Inclusion speaker at our virtual commencement. Below is a video of my speech:

At this time, I am neither a registered dietitian, nor a certified nutrition specialist. Without either of these certifications, I am not eligible to work in hospitals and/or many governmental institutions. And, that’s a-okay with me!

I am a BIPOC holistic nutritionist, educator, and artist with a multidisciplinary background and a deep appreciation for nuance. I am an intent listener, curious counselor, and a grounded holder of space. With these gifts in mind, and the intuitive and aesthetic talents of Tahiti Huetter of Aloha Friday Agency, I now have a unique platform from which to launch my offerings: Umauma Wellness.

As you can see, I offer so much more than just nutritional analysis or advice. If you’d like to connect with me or work with me in the areas of food relationship, culinary art explorations, or even quick creative consults, please do reach out. I do not accept insurance at this time, but am eager to offer you services on a sliding scale to meet your needs.
